UM Brandon NICU: 59-private level IV beds, 1200 admissions per year (3/4 inborn, 1/4 transported)
13-15 months of clinical training divided evenly over 3 years
9 months UM-Brandon NICU
1 month community level III NICU
1 month Pediatric Cardiothoracic ICU, focusing on post-operative care of newborns with congenital heart disease
1 month Maternal-Fetal Medicine
1 month Critical Care Transport
1/2 month Neonatal Nutrition
1/2 month Targeted Echocardiography
Approximately 40-46 in-house calls/year
Division supported academic funds for books, journals, conference travel
Comprehensive didactic curriculum based on American Board of Pediatrics Content Specifications with weekly/monthly teaching conferences and seminars
Wide range of mentored opportunities for basic science and clinical scholarship, patient safety initiatives and quality improvement
